Getting to know Sefa…

Hard to choose just one, but your favourite movement is…

Originally, I loved ring muscle-ups, but after injuring my arm, pull-ups haven’t been going well lately. So, recently, I really enjoy the clean movement. Because it feels like lifting a lot of weight relative to my body weight. πŸ˜‚ (Power Clean 1rm: 125kg, bragging πŸ˜†)

What are some of your recent accomplishments/aha moments?

I attempted to climb Mount Taranaki recently but failed to reach the summit. There were some risky situations due to inadequate preparation. While success and accomplishments bring joy, I’ve realized that in life, sometimes it takes courage to look back.

What is a goal you want to accomplish?

When I come back to New Zealand next time, I really want to go to the summit of Mount Taranaki. Anyone interested in joining?

How has your health/fitness/mindset changed since starting Fortitude?

Instead of exercising in the spare time during my day, I now start or finish my day with exercise. The purpose of exercise may vary, but having someone to watch and cheer for each other’s growth has become a significant daily motivation.😁

What do you do out there in the real world?

n Korea, I give lectures on organizational culture and team building at schools, companies, and public institutions. In New Zealand, I studied psychology and sociology, and when I return to Korea, I plan to study clinical psychology to specialize and provide counseling and lectures in more specific areas.

Favourite Fortitude Moment?

Since the day I first came to Fortitude in July 2022, every moment afterward has been great. If it weren’t for the Fortitude community, everything I tried in New Zealand would have been dull and challenging. As someone said, Fortitude is not just a community, it’s a sweet Whanau.

Have you experienced any other unexpected changes after joining Fortitude?

…learned Tongan swears..?? πŸ˜‚

What is your favorite thing to do outside Fortitude?

Drop-ins at other CrossFit gyms. πŸ‹πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

What is a fun fact about you?

I’m actually an extremely shy boy. ☺️

Any advice for someone just starting?

Just keep lying down. If you have a goal, you’ve already started acting. Just keep lying down. πŸ˜‚
